As the weather heated up, I decided to get some nourishment with eel and headed to Tomimatsu. Tomimatsu is the Higashi-Ginza branch of Tōtei, known for reasonably priced eel. It has roots as a direct shop of “Nakaichi,” an Edo-era wholesale river fish dealer. Tōtei also has branches in Ginza, Shinjuku, and Ueno Hirokoji.

I started with a draft beer and a seasonal small dish. There was an “Eel Salad” on the menu, which caught my interest, but it was sold out by the time I arrived.

I chose the Take (medium) Unajū, which came with pickles and dessert.

For an additional fee, the soup can be upgraded to liver soup.
A customer who came in after me simply ordered “the usual,” which I thought was pretty impressive.
