I’ve decided to make sunscreen a daily habit whenever I go outside—whether it’s sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, or even during a storm.
For women, this might already be second nature, but as a man, I’ve come to realize that protecting my skin from aging caused by UV rays is essential. So, I’m committed to making sunscreen a part of my daily routine.
As we age, our faces inevitably show signs of aging. There’s natural aging that comes with time, but a significant part of it is photoaging, which is caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays. Preventing this can keep us looking younger, helping our skin stay fresh and vibrant as we age. Who wouldn’t want to maintain youthful skin?
I’ve been interested in skincare since my teens, a time when using products like lotion and moisturizer was often met with remarks like, “Why is a guy using that?” But I think that early effort has contributed to the skin quality I have today.
Recently, I’d started slacking a bit, so I decided to refocus on my skin, with UV care as a key part of my routine. But I first had to research what kind of product to use. With so many products available, I needed to find one that matched my lifestyle. I wanted something with high SPF and PA ratings and also something that would leave my skin feeling light and non-greasy without a strong fragrance.
After watching a few reviews from skincare YouTubers, I finally decided on two products. First, I chose ORBIS Wrinkle Bright UV Protector, which has SPF50+ and PA++++. Although a little pricier than budget options, it’s a popular product and seemed to have good reviews, so I thought of it as a skincare investment.
The second product is Biore UV Aqua Rich Instant Mist UV, also SPF50+ and PA++++. It’s convenient to use on the go, as it’s a spray that can be applied to the face, body, and hair. When using it on the face, you simply spray it onto your hand first and then apply it.
In my view, skincare doesn’t usually deliver immediate or visible results; the key is consistency over time. Especially with UV care, the goal is to protect against UV rays so that, years down the road, my skin will still look as youthful as it does now. The effects of sun protection may not be immediately obvious, but the absence of noticeable aging will be the proof that it worked. This UV care routine is an investment in my future self.
